How to Give Operator Permissions on Your Minecraft Server

Assigning operators on your server is a really important step in the management of your server and beyond. For simple commands such as switching the gamemode, difficulty, teleporting to players, etc., you need to be granted operator permissions (OP).

Method 1: Using the Server Console

  1. Go to your Minecraft Server Panel on DazcoHost and make sure the server is ON.
  2. In the console, type op <player_name>, replacing <player_name> with the player's name you want to OP.
  3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard for the command to take action.
📌 Note: If the player you are trying to OP has a space in their name, you'll have to put their entire name between quotes, like this: op "DazcoHost User"

Method 2: Using the In-Game Chat

In order to use this method, you'll have to already be an operator, which means you can give OP to another player.

  1. Connect to your Minecraft server.
  2. Make sure you have OP permissions.
  3. Open the in-game chat and type /op <player_name>, replacing <player_name> with the player's name you want to OP.
  4. Press the Enter key on your keyboard for the command to take action.

Revoking a Player's OP

  1. Open the in-game chat or the Console.
  2. Type /deop <player_name>, replacing <player_name> with the username of the person whose operator status will be revoked.
  3. Press Enter on your keyboard.
